“It’s great we can see the view without any impediment” is a Kent couple’s verdict on their Balconette Frameless Juliet balcony that opens up vistas to the garden and sea beyond from their home in Hythe.
Debbie Christie and her husband Steven Winton chose the 1,860mm-wide Frameless Juliet to protect first-floor French Doors in a new bedroom extension. The single 21.5mm laminated toughened clear glass panel is secured by two Royal Chrome anodised support profiles.
“We were looking for a Juliet balcony which would have a frame either side but wouldn’t have a top barrier to the view,” explains Steven. “That’s why we went for all glass. I looked online, but the first quote I got from one company for a Juliet balcony seemed an awful lot of money.
“That spurred me on to look at a whole range of suppliers. I did further internet research and it seemed to me that Balconette’s product was the most economic and what we wanted for our project.”
The Juliet balcony was installed by local builder, CJM Builders Ltd at the end of the 17-week project in July 2022 who reported that ‘it was very straightforward and easy to fit’.
What particularly impressed the couple was the assistance from Balconette’s customer service team and the product’s specification for their project, as Steven explains: “They responded to our query on the size as the door we had ordered was quite tight in the space. I wanted to know if they did any other versions of the Juliet balcony in the event that it didn’t fit, although we were pretty sure that it would fit.
“What we liked about the balcony is that it fitted the space perfectly. We were offered two sizes, both suitable for an opening of up to 1.60m, and we selected the smaller one at 1,860mm wide. Balconette also sent us the full drawings that we could give to the builders so they could see how it was going to be fitted.”
For Debbie and Steven, the Juliet balcony “finishes off what we consider a really nice room, and it actually makes the actual extension look really good from the outside as well.”
Steven adds: “It lets in a lot of light; we get no barrier to light. In the summer, we have the double doors open and it’s great we can see the view without any impediment. It’s really good. We would recommend Balconette 100%.”
