A stunning four-panel curved patio door and curved fixed window supplied by Balcony Systems were the products of choice for an award-winning Bed & Breakfast property at Lee-on-the Solent on the South Coast.
Milvil Corner B&B is a 1930s Art Deco building, listed by the local council as a house of historical interest, comprising five individually-designed B&B guest rooms and a new separate self-contained guest accommodation unit. Here a full-height fixed curved glass window in the lounge/kitchen area provides a panoramic view of the garden.
Opening onto the garden, the curved door forms the dramatic focal point for a new rear extension to the owners' living quarters, adding practical extra living space while also increasing light to the interior.
Curved Glass Sliding Doors exceed expectations!
Steve Macaulay, who runs the business with his wife Angela, commented: "The curved door is a unique feature and it has transformed our living area making it a lot bigger with much more natural light.
"Guests have been impressed by the curved glass and appreciate that it complements the building. It has been a talking point and well worth the wait. We're delighted with the result."
Steve and his building contractor Kevin Willcox, Director of Willcox Property Solutions researched several options before agreeing that the Balcony products could deliver the best aesthetics.
Kevin explained: "Although the original architect's plans featured faceted sections to look like a curve, Balcony's curved glass looks much better and I'm very happy with how it looks. The door looks absolutely stunning and it gives the building its added 'wow' factor in my opinion."
"Balcony's surveyor visited the site to measure and take photographs of the curved aperture. A detailed technical drawing followed so we could install the floor level flush with the threshold to give a seamless neat appearance," continued Kevin, who specialises in bespoke construction projects.
He added that this attention to detail contributed to the smooth installations of the curved door and fixed window, which took a day each.
Steve cited Balcony Systems' professionalism, strong internet presence and ability to provide 'what he wanted for a competitive price' as key reasons for choosing the company.
He added: "We have appreciated the professional way in which Balcony Systems have dealt with our order. They kept us informed at all stages of our order and ensured the fitting was completed to a high standard. Balcony Systems' products are competitive on price and more affordable than some quotes we received."
