Creating the illusion of a ‘sea of green’ is this beautiful Balconette balustrade framing the view over the Lincolnshire Wolds from an extended home near Louth.
The flat roof extension allowed homeowner Tim Donovan to enlarge the first-floor accommodation and construct an external balcony, complete with a floor of artificial grass.
He specifically chose Balconette’s Aerofoil Glass Balustrade System for its streamlined wing-shaped handrail that ‘would not spoil the view’. The three-metre aluminium handrail and base track have a matching Silver Anodised finish.
The unique design feature of the Aerofoil balustrade system allows for uninterrupted views and, where needed, posts can be spaced up to 2.1 metres apart.
On researching glass balustrades online, Tim was impressed with the level of product detail and explanation on the Balconette website, saying: “They came up really well, especially the description of how to install the products as I was planning to fit it myself.”
In the end, his builder came to help him and ended up completing the installation. Tim continues: “Balconette’s instructions were very clear, and I thought that the online information was superb. I called one of their technical experts to check on a couple of things, such as the spacers, and they were very helpful and explained everything.
“I am chuffed to bits with the balustrade,” he adds. “I like the sleeker shape of the Aerofoil handrail because I didn’t want it to interrupt the view when you are seated on the balcony. It also looks nice, and you can lean on it when admiring the view.
“The artificial grass enhances the continuation of green as you look through the glass to the Wolds in the distance.”
