‘I found Balconette the most economical, easy to understand and easy to order’

Having asked eight balustrading companies to quote for two balconies, a South Wales homeowner says he found Balconette’s products to be ‘the most economical, easy to understand and easy to order’.

Delighted with the stylish finished result, Mark Careless says he is now ‘smitten’ with the two balconies installed on the rear of his Dinas Powys home in October 2022. “I can see the whole of the Vale of Glamorgan through the upper balustrade. I look at it and I’m thinking ‘do you know what, that looks fantastic!’”

Mark, a former Welsh Guardsman, built an extension at the rear of his property before creating the two balconies to take advantage of the extensive countryside views. Now working as a regional health and safety manager for the MoD, he says his work gave him the confidence to tackle the projects.

When it came to choosing the balustrades, Mark had his heart set on glass ‘to enjoy the view’. He approached eight companies, both online and in person, including three sales representatives who turned up at his home to provide quotes.

“It was frustrating as they didn’t listen to what I wanted or listen to the brief when they were here. And some of the prices were way out of my budget.” he continues. “This contrasts with how I found the whole ordering process with Balconette; it was amazing! The guy I dealt with was very patient, very communicative and not pushy.

“The Balconette website is spot-on with regards to the information detailing how the whole process works. I found Balconette’s products the most economical, easy to understand and easy to order.”

Balconette recommended Rory Mostert of ARC Fabrications, one of their Registered Partners, for the installation of nearly 14 metres of their Orbit balustrade system in the classic Royal Chrome anodised finish.

“We preferred the smaller handrail of the Orbit system, as it looks more traditional and it’s really good quality with a lovely finish,” comments Mark. “If you have children or grandchildren running around, the handrail gives you that extra bit of security.”

Fitting the balustrade took three days, including a short interruption when an accidentally scratched glass panel had to be replaced. “Balconette’s response was very quick, and another panel was with me within 24 hours. Rory came back to pop it in, so that was all good.”

Feedback on the balconies, Mark says, has been “awesome”, adding: “Everyone has said they look absolutely superb. My neighbours and my daughter have all commented that they look fantastic!
