Balcony Systems met the architect's specification for clear glass and aluminium balustrading installed at a new sheltered housing complex at Rearyt y Chrink, Port St Mary, on the Isle of Man.

Contractors Auldyn Construction Limited fitted 118 metres of external balustrading, finished with a round handrail finished in Royal Chrome, at the £4.4 million development.

The low-maintenance external balconies provide security and allow in light to a covered walkway on the first and second floors at the complex, which comprises 27 one-bed units, six two-bed units and one disabled person's unit.

Brad Smalley of Auldyn Construction said: "In fulfilling the architect's requirement for minimal posts, the clean lines of the Balcony balustrading enhance the contemporary appearance of the scheme."

The project was designed by Savage and Chadwick Architects for Marashen Crescent Housing Committee which runs the complex in conjunction with the island's Department of Social Care.
