Built in the 1980s, this three-storey property in Tunbridge Wells has been completely transformed with 26 metres of glass balustrading supplied by Balconette.
Balconette’s Aerofoil System with a Silver Anodised handrail replaces the original steel and wooden balconies that were rotten and falling into disrepair. The works were carried out by a local developer and glazing company, Highview Glazing & Construction Ltd as part of a major refurbishment that included an extension, new windows, doors, facias and soffits.
Commenting on the finished result, company owner Jamie Spillet says: “The Balconette balustrades are all interesting shapes and have completely transformed the house as the original balconies looked very old-fashioned. The glass panels give the exterior a more modern look and have also enabled more natural light to enter the house, lighting up the rooms.”
Balconette’s Aerofoil System, with its broader wing-shaped handrail creating a comfortable profile to lean on and enjoy the views, is a popular choice with customers.
It was the first time Jamie had installed Balconette’s system, having been introduced to it by his client. He says: “He showed me a link to their website, and I think the price clinched it. Balconette’s products are, in my view, far superior to the ones from my previous supplier.
“I thought the system was quite easy to fit; we had to do a bit of work with what was already there, but it went together like a breeze. During the installation, all my guys had the opportunity to try their hand at fitting the balustrades so that they were familiar with the system.”
Praising the helpfulness of Balconette’s customer care team, Jamie says that the system arrived well-packaged and delivered to site on time.
The client is delighted too. After Jamie had installed the first balustrades for three bedrooms, he asked him to fit a fourth one on top of a retaining wall in the back garden.
Jamie now plans to use the Balconette systems on future projects which require them, adding: “We do a lot of newbuild work so, if anyone wants glass balustrades, I can offer it as a service and all the guys can install them.”
